SUMMARY:Death and Taxes
DESCRIPTION:\n\nLet’s Talk about Death on Tax Day\nIn 1789 Benjamin Franklin famously wrote, “Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” So in honor of this idiom, we’re going to discuss death on tax day, April 15th.\nDEATH AND TAXES: Stop stressing, let us help you! (with death, not taxes)\nJoin UAFP and Dr. Deirdre Amaro, Chief Medical Examiner from the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner to discuss the final act of care you can perform for your patients – filling out their death certificates.\nThis free one hour CME* will provide family physicians and other primary care clinicians an overview of the function of the OME, which deaths fall under the purview of the OME, and which fall under the purview of the patient’s physician. This presentation will help clarify the process of completing a death certificate for your patients and how the OME and family physicians can work together to serve the community.\nWHEN: Tuesday, April 15, 12:00pm – 1:00pm\nWHERE: Zoom (link provided with registration)\nWHO: Family physicians and other primary care clinicians who practice in Utah\nUpon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:\n\nDifferentiate Cause versus Manner of death\nIdentify the types of deaths that fall under Medical Examiner jurisdiction\nRecognize the Office of the Medical Examiner as a consultative resource\nRecognize the broader implications of death certification for Public Health\n\n*The AAFP has reviewed Death and Taxes: Stop Stressing, let us help you! (with death, not taxes) and deemed it acceptable for up to 1.00 Live AAFP Prescribed credit(s). Term of Approval is from 04/15/2025 to 04/15/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.\nAAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.\n\n
