Overview

This conference aims to bring up to date information on the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes in multiple forms, including type 1 and diabetes in adolescents. We will also explore related conditions including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), obesity, and hypoglycemia in patients without diabetes and skin eruptions in diabetes mellitus (DM). A special segment will include a panel of patients with diabetes on their perspective on managing this chronic condition. Speakers will present from the perspectives of caring for both adult and pediatric patients.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Describe medication management strategies to optimize blood sugar control.
  2. Use evidence-based practice to manage complications in patients with diabetes.
  3. Recognize unique barriers of care for patients with diabetes and describe actions to overcome these barriers in a patient-centered manner.
