Whether it be a home, a prosperous career, or a brighter future, building something great takes sturdy connections and a strong foundation. You’re at a point in your life where you can build in any direction you want, anything you envision. What you do now sets you up for success early and throughout your entire career.
Each year, UAFP offers scholarships to help offset the cost of attendance for residents to attend. More info coming in 2026.
Resident Leadership Award
Congratulations to our 2025 Resident Leadership Award Winner, Dr. Ishaah Talker from Utah Valley FM Residency!
Nominations for this award are accepted each spring from fellow residents, faculty, residency staff, and others who have first-hand knowledge of a resident's outstanding performance. Nominate an outstanding graduating resident for the 2026 award now!
Student Loan Repayment Programs
Doctors graduating from medical school can be saddled with several thousand dollars in student loan debt which can take several years - or decades - to pay off. There are several service-based programs that can help new physicians pay off a portion of or refinance their debt.
Pathways to Practice
Are you an FM resident getting ready to graduate this year? UAFP can help you with an employment contract review. AAFP has several resources to help you navigate the next step in your career as a family physician. And UAFP can connect you with an experienced attorney here in Utah or you can find your own. UAFP Student & Resident Representatives
Utah is home to two medical schools and four family medicine residencies. The UAFP Student & Resident Representatives come from each medical school's family medicine interest group and each family medicine residency. One representative chosen by their respective organization also serves as a non-voting member of the UAFP Board of Directors.
