Member of the Week: Dr. Chelsea Slade
Practice: I work as a hospitalist for Intermountain (at McKay-Dee and Layton Hospitals). I also provide inpatient GIP hospice services for Inspiration Hospice, and I volunteer 5-10 hours per week to help run Seager Memorial Clinic, which is a 501c3 nonprofit free medical clinic for the homeless and underserved in Ogden.
Residency: McKay-Dee Family Medicine Residency
Any additional training or fellowships? Certificate training in palliative medicine.
A bit about Dr. Slade: I grew up in the DC area, attended BYU for my undergraduate degree, and George Washington University for medical school. I have 7 (soon to be 8) kids ages 11 and under and am married to the love of my life, Josh, who runs our small family dairy farm, works part-time as a lawyer, and helps wrangle our growing family. I spend most of my free time taking hot baths, reading, eating chocolate, or nerding out about AI in medicine and other areas. I hate cooking and am always up for eating out.
What keeps you passionate about family medicine? I love how much flexibility it has already allowed me in my career – I have worked in primary care with ob (during residency), urgent care, hospital medicine, and hospice!
What do you wish you’d known when you graduated from medical school? How freaking good it would feel when my student loans were finally forgiven under Public Service Loan Forgiveness!
Where will we find you on your day off? At home chasing my 7 kiddos or resting my pregnant self on the couch!
What are you…
