Keep Your Membership Switched On for 2027

Renewal season is here, and your 2027 UAFP and AAFP membership is due by January 1, 2027. Renewing takes a few minutes. What it keeps working for you lasts all year.

When we ask members what they value most, two answers come up again and again: our advocacy at the Utah Legislature, and CME you can earn close to home with colleagues you know. Both are made possible by your membership. Here’s a look at what your renewal supports, and how to get it done.

Your membership won a real change for Utah physicians

In the 2026 legislative session, UAFP led the effort behind HB270, which eliminates most non-compete clauses in healthcare employment contracts. The law took effect May 6, 2026.

For years, non-competes forced many physicians to choose between a new job and staying in the community where they practiced. Some left the state entirely. That hurts patients too, especially in a state that ranks 49th in the nation for primary care physicians.

Under HB270, for new contracts signed on or after May 6, 2026:

  • Most healthcare employers can no longer include non-compete clauses.
  • You generally can’t be blocked from continuing to practice in the same area when you change employers.
  • You can’t be prohibited from telling former patients where you’re practicing now.

The bill passed with no industry opposition, the result of years of relationship-building with lawmakers, healthcare partners and employers. That work doesn’t happen without members. Your dues fund the staff time, lobbying and presence at the Capitol that make wins like this possible.

Already have a non-compete in an older contract? HB270 doesn’t apply to agreements signed before May 6, 2026, but it may be worth reviewing your contract or talking with your employer or an attorney about your options.

CME close to home, with colleagues you know

You need CME. UAFP brings it to you in Utah, built by family physicians for family physicians, with time to connect with the people who practice alongside you.

  • Southern Utah Family Medicine Conference, November 13–14 at Rocky Vista University and Black Desert Resort in Ivins. A chance to learn and connect with colleagues across Southern Utah, including training for physicians who precept students and residents.
  • CME & Ski 2027, February 21–24 at Westgate Resort in Park City. Earn credit and recharge in the mountains.

UAFP members get the best registration rate at both conferences:

RegistrationUAFP memberAAFP member outside UtahNon-member physician
CME & Ski 2027$575$750$850
Southern Utah Family Medicine Conference$250$350$450

That’s $275 off CME & Ski and $200 off SUFMC compared with non-member rates. Attend both, and you save $475. It’s one more way your membership stays switched on locally, not just nationally.

Plus everything from the AAFP you count on:

Because AAFP membership is unified, renewing keeps you connected at the state and national level. That includes:

  • Member pricing on CME and live events, including FMX and the Family Medicine Advocacy Summit, plus free CME offerings.
  • CME Reporter, to track and report your credits, which the AAFP also sends to the ABFM on your behalf.
  • All-access digital subscription to AFP journal and clinical guidance built for the full breadth of family medicine.
  • Career and practice support, including coding and documentation help and the Family Medicine Career Benchmark Dashboard for compensation data.
  • National advocacy on payment policy, administrative burden and scope of practice.
  • Member Advantage discounts on travel, insurance and financial services.

Early-career members also save on national dues: $100 in your first year of practice, $200 in your second and $300 in your third, compared with $525 for Active members.

How to renew

Dues are due January 1, 2027. Members who haven’t paid by February 28 are canceled on March 1.

In your CME re-election year? You have two steps: renew your membership, and report at least 150 CME credits (including 75 AAFP Prescribed credits) by December 31, 2026. Check your status and report at aafp.org/reportcme.

Ways to pay:

  • Online: log in at aafp.org/checkmydues.
  • Someone else paying? They can use aafp.org/quickpay with your AAFP ID and invoice number.
  • By phone: call the AAFP Member Resource Center at (800) 274-2237.
  • By mail: send a check with your invoice to AAFP, 11400 Tomahawk Creek Parkway, Leawood, KS 66211.

Budget matters, we get it. Monthly installment payments spread your dues across the year, and auto-renewal means you never have to think about a lapse in your benefits. The Member Resource Center can help you set either one up.

Keep it switched on

From the Capitol to the conference room, UAFP and the AAFP are in your corner for the year ahead. Renewing keeps it that way.
