Member of the Week: Dr. Melinda McDonald Midgley

Practice: I worked for twenty years with Premier Family Medical, originally Tri-City Medical in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I did OB and admissions at American Fork Hospital. I now work at Premise Health in an outpatient Family Medicine clinic, no call or after hours, three days a week in Utah County.

Residency: Pueblo, Colorado

A bit about Dr. McDonald Midgley: I grew up in Bountiful, Utah, and attended Brigham Young University for a BS in Zoology, and the University of Utah for medical school. I did my Family Medicine residency in Pueblo, Colorado. I am married to Brad Midgley, and we have 5 kids. We enjoy soccer, skiing, and backpacking together.

What keeps you passionate about family medicine?  The patients and solving difficult medical problems. In the middle of a good medical conversation with a patient, in which they are both being educated, and getting the help they need, it feels truly inspirational.

What do you wish you’d known when you graduated from medical school? I’ve reflected back recently on my career, and I really don’t think I would have changed anything. My favorite practice time was when my youngest entered kindergarten and I felt free to work on a daily basis with Premier and I opened their new clinic at Mountain Point Medical in Lehi.

Where will we find you on your day off? At Brighton skiing with my kids! My day off aligns with their early out day, so we hit the slopes early!
