Member of the Week: Dr. Shannon Baker

Practice: I currently work at the West Jordan Family Medicine Clinic for Intermountain Healthcare. I also serve as an Associate Medical Director for Castell, the population health arm of Intermountain. I love both jobs; keeping people healthy as I see them in clinic and also supporting providers and projects with Castell as we advance Value Based Care in Utah and beyond.

Residency: McKay-Dee Residency in Ogden, Utah

A bit about Dr. Baker: I grew up in Columbus Ohio and went to undergrad at Colby College in Maine. I then attended University of North Carolina Chapel Hill for Medical School. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two teenage boys now. We love that we decided to raise our family in Utah. It has been an amazing place to explore and of course practice medicine.

What keeps you passionate about family medicine? Taking care of multigenerational families and seeing them stay healthy year after year. Collaborating with my partners and other members of my team in clinic to take care of patients in a way that I could never do alone.

What do you wish you’d known when graduating from med school? That you are not alone when you start a practice. Family Medicine is more of a “Team Sport” than ever before and you always have people to lean on.

Where will we find you on your day off? Hiking up Millcreek Canyon
