Michael D. Blackburn, JD, CPA

Michael D. Blackburn, J.D., CPA, is a shareholder in the Salt Lake City law firm of BLACKBURN & STOLL, LC, where his practice focuses on estate planning, tax planning, and advising business enterprises.  He is a past chairman of both the Estate Planning Section and the Task Force on Multi-Disciplinary Practice for the Utah State Bar and was named as the Tax Practitioner of the Year by the Tax Section of the Utah State Bar Association in 2017.  He is a past President of the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants, and was selected as Utah’s Outstanding CPA in 1997.

Mr. Blackburn participates regularly in Medical Residency education programs and reviews several dozen employment agreements each year as Doctors finish residency and begin their first full time position.

Mr. Blackburn has served as an adjunct professor of tax in the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah since 2002, and as visiting professor of tax in the Gore School of Business at Westminster College of Salt Lake since 2019.
