Member of the Week: Dr. Raymond Ward
Practice: I work at Cope Family Medicine/Ogden Clinic in Bountiful, right close to Lakeview Hospital. We have 5 docs and 4 midlevels at our location. We offer Primary Care and Urgent care and have on site lab draw, x rays, counseling, and diabetes education. I enjoy working with all primary care populations including Medicare and Medicaid, and providing Suboxone treatment for those with substance use disorders.
Residency: St. Mary’s in Grand Junction, Colorado

Any additional training or fellowships? I also have a PhD. in pharmacology, but that was before residency.
A bit about Dr. Ward: I grew up in Bountiful. I graduated from Woods Cross High School in 1985. I played in all the bands (Concert Band, Marching Band and Jazz Band) and did some Theater as well. Played Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady in the high school production my Jr. Year. My current hobby is mainly Politics, but also some Pickleball.
What keeps you passionate about family medicine? Knowing people and seeing them recover from difficult things, or just being there to help them navigate hard times is rewarding.
What do you wish you’d known when you graduated from medical school? I feel like I got a good education in Medical School and Residency. Medical information can be taught in classes and clerkships, but the other skills needed to run a private practice can’t easily be taught other than by living them out and watching others who are good at it.
Where will we find you on your day off? On days off from clinic you will find me engaged in Politics. There are not very many days that are off from both clinic and politics.
What are you…
