Member of the Week: Dr. Brad Prestwich
Practice: I currently work at Intermountain Draper Clinic, a small suburban family practice clinic with 3 docs and 1 PA, hopefully about to bring on another provider in the next couple of months. I just started a half time position in informatics with Intermountain as well.
Residency: Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency
A bit about Dr. Prestwich: I grew up in Murray, UT, then BYU for undergraduate studies and Ohio State for medical school. I’m the oldest of 5 kids and proud dad to an almost 7 year old. I love to read (mostly fantasy, but really just anything with words), to play board and card games, and futz with a home server. I also love to hike and work in the yard. I’m (re)learning to play the piano.
What keeps you passionate about family medicine? The relationships with people and the broad range of ages and conditions we treat.
What do you wish you’d known when graduating from med school? We are fighting entropy, so it’s ok that we don’t win every battle. The patient is the one with the illness. You don’t need to work harder on their diagnosis than they are willing to.
Where will we find you on your day off? Working in the yard or up Big Cottonwood Canyon.
